Fun Fall Activities in Sarnia-Lambton

  Saturday, Oct 02, 2021

Autumn is here - colourful, crisp, and . Let's get out to enjoy it with our families! So, what are some fun things you can do with friends and family in Sarnia-Lambton this fall?

Fruit Picking

Fruit picking is one of those classic fall activities. Getting to stroll through orchards on a crisp day is unique and relaxing... takes us back to simpler times.

It's a great day trip with your family and you get some exercise in while you do it! Fruit picking is a great lead into other fall activities too, like baking an apple pie or making some homemade jams.

Some great orchards, including pick your own orchards, include Zekveld's Garden Market in Plympton-Wyoming, Red Barn Fruit Farm in Arkona, Twin Pines Orchards in Thedford, and Hornblower Homestead and Orchards in Thedford. Fruit picking is actually really fun and could be a great family tradition for you and your family!

Breweries

Next, you should check out some of our Breweries. And now we move on to those other Fall Activities. For those who enjoy adult beverages, we’ve got wineries and breweries you can visit here in Sarnia-Lambton: in town, we have nice breweries like Big Family Brewing Co, Refined Fool and the March Hare, Imperial City Brew House, and Tin Fiddler.

There is also Black Gold Brewery out in Petrolia, Stonepicker Brewing Company near Forest, Twin Pines out in Thedford, Bayfield Brewery, and Bad Apple Brewing Company in Lambton Shores.

Most of these guys have awesome pubs for you to enjoy too, so get on out to these great breweries! Some people are surprised to learn we have some local wineries as well.

Wineries

We have Shale Ridge Estate Winery in Thedford, Alton Estates Winery out on Aberarder Line, Dark Horse Estate Winery just outside Grand Bend in Lambton Shores, Bayfield Brewery, and Bad Apple Brewing Company in Lambton Shores. Now that's a good selection!

There is something special about wineries, and just walking through them peacefully, having some samples and taking a bottle home.

Hiking in the Fall Colours

Next, you should get out with your family this fall and enjoy the fall colours with a nice hike. We have at least 24 conservation areas in Lambton County that you might not know even exist!

We have Wawanosh Wetlands, Perch Creek conservation area, Blackwell Trails, The Howard Watson Nature Trail, LC Henderson conservation area, Warwick conservation area, Rock Glen out in Arkona, Moore Wildlife Management Area, and so many more!

And don't forget our amazing Pinery Provincial Park. Get some great exercise and bask in all the natural beauty Lambton has to offer!

Korny Korners

Another fun one, especially for the kids, is Korny Korners, on the Michigan Blackwell intersection. They offer hayrides, which are a staple of the fall experience. Getting out and experiencing that little taste of country life is sweet, and the kids are sure to love it.

Korny Korners Farm in Sarnia is an awesome place to bring the kids for a hayride, mini-putt, a corn maze, pedal go-karts, pig races and more! And you can grab some fresh produce while you're there too.

Next, you could attend one of the Oktoberfest events in Sarnia-Lambton. Usually, the Refined Fool, Black Gold, and a few other places put on a good Oktoberfest. Great beer, German sausage and log chopping might be some of the fun you experience here in Sarnia-Lambton.

Go for a Drive

Lastly, I'd say one of these weekends just go for a drive and see where the road takes you! Maybe you'll happen across a winery or brewery that draws you in. Maybe you'll find a great hiking spot, or a place to picnic. Be adventurous, and you'll be sure to find something excellent!

There you go! There are a few ideas for you and your family this fall. These places are mostly outdoors too, so there's less to worry about during the pandemic.

Fresh air and safe activities do wonders for the body and mind. Thanks for watching and it's time to come home to the Blue Coast.
